Data Management
What are Data Products and how do they relate to my metrics?
Data Products are the sources of data for your metrics. They include information about:
The business data being represented
Update frequency and last updated timestamp
Data quality rules and assessment results
Upstream data sources
Associated systems and owners
Primary Metrics, Reference Metrics, and the AI models that generate predictions all rely on these Data Products.
How current is the data I am seeing?
Each Tile shows when data was last loaded. This timestamp indicates the freshness of the information displayed based on when it was last ingested and transformed by our data platform, Foundation. Data Products have their own update frequencies, which determine how often new data becomes available for your metrics.
How does the system handle data quality issues?
Data Products in the system are checked against associated data quality rules. Data Quality indicators can be found in the Tile details page. In any case, you can rest reassured that, if the checks are unsuccsessful, the standard policy for Foundation is to not load new data, so as to avoid bad decision making.
Additionally, when answering questions, the system considers these quality indicators and will note any potential data quality concerns that might affect the reliability of the answers provided. If significant quality issues exist, the system will explicitly highlight these limitations.
Can I see the lineage of where metrics data comes from?
Yes. Each Data Product includes metadata about upstream data sources, associated systems, and data transformations. When viewing metrics or receiving answers, you can ask about this lineage information to understand the origin of the data and any transformations applied to it, building trust in the insights provided.
